Introduction to Soda Ash

食品级纯碱

Soda ash is composed of sodium carbonate, also known as soda, alkali ash, alkaline surface, etc. Soda ash is an important basic chemical raw material, which is mainly used in building materials, glasses, detergent, alumina, etc. It is white and tasteless powder or particles at room temperature. It has water absorption and when exposed to the air, it gradually absorbs water and forms caking. Sodium carbonate has certain degree of corrosivity and stability, but it can also decompose into sodium oxide and carbon dioxide at high temperature.

When soda ash is exposed to the air for a long time, it can absorb water and carbon dioxide in the air and produce sodium bicarbonate.

According to different density, soda ash is mainly divided into light soda and heavy soda. Its chemical composition is sodium carbonate, but its physical form is different: the density of light soda is 500-600kg / m3, which is in the form of white crystalline powder. The density of heavy soda is 1000-1200kg / m3, in white fine particles. Compared with light soda, heavy soda has the characteristics of firmness, large particles, high density, low moisture absorption, not easy to agglomerate, not easy to fly and good fluidity.

In addition, there are ultra light soda and super heavy soda, with densities of 370 kg / m3 and 1550-2553 kg / m3 respectively.

According to the use, soda ash can also be divided into industrial soda ash and edible soda ash.

Edible soda ash is based on the standard of sodium carbonate for food additives GB1886-1992 . On the basis of realizing the standard of low salinity of industrial soda ash, the content limit of arsenic and heavy metals is increased. Soda ash can be divided into ordinary alkali, low saline alkali, ultra-low saline alkali and special low saline alkali according to chloride content. According to the national standard, the mass fraction of ordinary alkali sodium chloride is ≤ 1.20%; Mass fraction of low salinity sodium chloride ≤ 0.90%; Mass fraction of ultra-low saline sodium chloride ≤ 0.70%; The mass fraction of sodium chloride with special low salinity is ≤ 0.30%.
